Shanti Ghar, literally Peaceful Home is exactly what you can expect when visiting our guest house.

This charming family residence, located in Tamarin, offers six-en-suite bedrooms amidst a vast garden in a quiet neighbourhood.

A large pool, a kiosk, a barbecue area and a fire pit bring the final relaxing touch to this already serene place.

This English colonial style house is home not only to the hosts but also to their rescued animals, friendly dogs, cats, chicken and fish conferring a vibrant and unique homely feeling.

The owners, supported by:

Aurélie and Lena, 2 young locals from the area who share a passion for their community and the experiences it offers. They will provide recommendations for things to see and do and will not hesitate to go the extra mile to make your stay with us comfortable and enjoyable.
 
Kim, also Mauritian, will delight you with her authentic local dishes at dinner time while you listen to the stories of the hosts. She will also be able to organise a picnic basket for your boat trips or your inland excursions.

What's nearby

Tamarin is a charming coastal village located on the Western coast of Mauritius known mainly for its surfing spot and picturesque mountains. The village has a laid back atmosphere making it the perfect destination for those seeking a peaceful getaway.

We encourage our guests to visit this village on a “no car day” by renting some classic bicycles to ride to the historic sites such as the salt pans, the Martello Tower and museum, the St Augustin Church, the historic cemetery of Black River but also to relax at the Tamarin Bay, the La Preneuse beach or to visit the Black River Gorges.

Other activities are surfing lessons, whales and dolphins watching, Deep sea fishing and sunsets on the beach.
